When George T. Nugent opened his first bakery in Yerington Nevada back in 1914, it was the beginning of a family tradition now in its fourth generation. George and his lovely wife, Evelyn would go on to open two other bakeries in the Eastern Sierra - one on Main Street in Lee Vining (the building they built now houses Bell Sporting Goods), and finally one in Bridgeport.
George and Evelyn opened High Sierra Bakery on Main Street in Bridgeport in 1952, and it has been a family tradition ever since. Their son George D. Nugent ran the bakery for many years then passed it on to his son Steve who still runs it today with his wife Mollie. Over the years many dear friends and family members have shared in working, playing (and snacking!) together at the bakery. We love you all!
